Home Remodeling Trends as the Pandemic Eases

Over the recent months, there is no doubt that some feelings of pre-pandemic life have emerged.  While these reemerging themes are a welcome reminder of our resilience, there is no doubt that the pandemic has left a deep scar on our society.  We believe the following trends are some of the most likely in the home remodeling industry.

  • Many will remain working from home for the foreseeable future. The continued importance of separate spaces will remain at the forefront of design with less emphasis on the ever-popular open concept.
  • The inclusion of many items such as charging ports, integrated technology, and electrical cord concealment which make working in an office space convenient will be included in home offices.
  • Decorative bookcases, hidden storage, and other manners of functional elegance will be used to employ the professional feeling of the office at home. These attributes also allow for the perception of a formal setting as mobile telecommunicating over such assets such as Zoom will continue to be a part of many individuals' professional lives.
  • With more time spent in the home, an obvious result is increased utility costs.
  • Energy-efficient products and sustainable materials will become of paramount importance.
  • Increased bathroom size and refinement as they are used far more frequently as much more time during the day is spent in the home.
  • An additional guest entrance to the home located near a powder room, for instance, allows for intrusion into the house with less disruption along with the ability to use the sanitary facilities if necessary.

While there are many other changes we could possibly anticipate, we feel those formerly mentioned are the most relevant and likely at the moment.
